 16-18u Senior Summer League registration will be closing soon.

 

15u High School Summer JV Players may continue to register on the wait list until the JV American team is formed.

The JV team will be coached by Chuck Johnson and will compete in the Babe Ruth District 13 American division along with playing a separate Sunday NVTBL travel league schedule. They will also enter the 2012 Kyles Kamp Wood Bat Tournament on Memorial Day weekend. There will be additional costs associated with participation of this team.

Players that are not selected to the American team will be placed on a Senior League team.

 

 

 

Babe Ruth Baseball is played on a 90’ field and according to the Official Major League Baseball Rules. With the exception of Rule 6.10, the designated hitter.

Competition:

Teams travel to play other teams within Babe Ruth District 13  which includes Greater Fairfax, Vienna, Falls Church/Annandale, Arlington, Herndon/Reston, Pioneer Baseball/Alexandria, Mclean and Springfield Babe Ruth Leagues. There are typically two week night and one weekend game.

Tournament Play:

Any team formed with GFBR has the option to enter into any travel tournament as long as it does not disrupt from league play. Teams may register with www.usssa.com/sports/SA or http://aaubaseball.org/ as long as they get prior approval from the GFBR Board. Teams are encouraged to play competitive tournaments as much as possible.

High Schools:

Local High Schools within our chartered area include Westfield, Centreville, Robinson, Fairfax, Paul VI, Woodson, Oakton and Lake Braddock High Schools.

Middle Schools:

Local Middle Schools within our chartered area include Stone, Liberty, Lanier, Robinson, Lake Braddock and Frost Middle Schools.

Travel Teams: Any travel team that pursues a venue to play baseball within GFBR is encouraged to register. All players that participate in 50% of the Babe Ruth District 13 schedule at their age group qualify to partisipate in the post season Babe Ruth All Star Tournament. Teams may also register to play with NVTBL. Please contact the league president for information.

 

-Age Group 13: Evaluations will be scheduled in late March. Please see the Babe Ruth website at www.syasports.org in January for more detail. Practices start early April.

-Age Group 14-15: Evaluations will be scheduled in late March. Please see the Babe Ruth website at www.syasports.org in January for more detail.

-Age Group 16-18: No evaluations. Teams are formed in early May. The season will start at the conclusion of the High School season.
 
On-line registration will close in mid March for ages 13-15. See the website for more information. On-line registration for ages 16-18 will close in May, 2012.Register early to ensure placement on a team and avoid wait listing. Wait listing will be determined by the total number of players, and not tied to a specific date.
 
Greater Fairfax Babe Ruth always needs volunteers, especially qualified coaches. If you would like to join us please sign up through the volunteers section of this website.A $5.50 Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreational Services Fee per player will be added to each player’s registration for the season.An additional $30 out of county fee will be added to each out of county player’s registration fee as per policy of Fairfax County Dept of Community and Recreation.
 
Refund Policy: Requests for refunds must be made in writing and received prior to the roster distribution meeting (coaches meeting) or the first regularly scheduled game that the registrant’s team plays, which ever occurs first. The registration fee will be refunded minus $35 administrative fees prior to that date. No fees will be returned after that time.

13-15 BASEBALL DIVISION
The bat may not exceed 34” in length, and the bat barrel may not exceed 2 5/8” in diameter.  All aluminum/alloy barrel bats and all composite handle (only) aluminum/alloy barrels are allowed.  Only composite barrel bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 will be allowed.  Wood barrel bats conforming to the specifications of Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are allowed.

 

 

16-18 BASEBALL DIVISION
The bat may not exceed 34” in length and the bat barrel many not exceed 2 5/8” in diameter or be greater than a -3 length to weight ratio.  Only metal/composite bats certified and marked BBCOR .50 are allowed.  Wood barrel bats conforming to the specifications of Official Baseball Rule 1.10 are allowed.

PENALTY

  • If the illegal bat is discovered prior to a batter completing his “at bat” the bat is simply removed from play and the “at bat” continues.

  • A player who uses an illegal bat or non-conforming barrel dimension and hits a fair ball will be ruled out.  No advancement on the bases will be allowed, and any outs during the play shall stand.  This is an appeal play.  The “at bat” will be considered legal once a pitch is thrown to the next batter.

  • Any bat discovered prior to the game that does not conform to the above rule shall be directed to be removed immediately and not be allowed for use during the game.
