House League Basketball
Winter 2014-2015

House league is for 1st through 12th grade boys and girls. Skills Evaluations begin  November 10 (4th-12th Grade only). Games begin  December 13. The season ends in early March. Games and practices are held Monday- Friday evenings at local Centreville area school gyms. Games are played on weekends. See fees page for cost.

Register to be a coach or assistant coach
 

Coach Registration ButtonClick on the blue button to register as a head coach or assistant coach. Coaches must register every season. If you coach multiple sports, please register for each sport.

SYA conducts annual background checks on all head and assistant coaches for the safety of our players. Individuals must present a government-issued photo ID for verification if they are new to SYA.

All SYA Board of Directors members, as well as the members of each sport’s Board of Directors, must also register annually as volunteers. Just as we do with coaches, SYA conducts annual background checks on volunteers

Is your son North or South? -  Boy’s 4th- 8th leagues are divided geographically by home address. If you live in the Liberty MS/Centreville High or Fairfax or Robinson school area, you are in the “South” Division. If you live in the Stone MS/Westfield High School area you are in the “North” Division.  
 
League commissioners are responsible for the tasks that start and keep a league running. Duties include:
  • holding skill evaluations
  • drafting teams
  • scheduling games and practices
  • tracking wins and losses
  • running the end-of-season tournament
  • overseeing All-Star selections
  • enforcing SYA rules and policies
  • attending monthly board meetings.

Bulldog Bash
Holiday HS Basketball Tournament

 If you want to see the best high school basketball the Washington, D.C. area has to offer during the Christmas holiday week, this year’s Thirteenth Annual Ourisman Scion Bulldog Bash Holiday Basketball Tournament is where you want to be. Westfield High School’s girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will again host some of the region’s best boys’ teams including Annandale, Centreville (champion of the 2009 Bulldog Bash), Fairfax, Forest Park, Patriot School (Nokesville), West Springfield, Middleburg Academy, and Westfield (champion of the 2006, 2007,and2008 Bulldog Bash).
 In the girls’ bracket, Westfield (champion of the 2003 and 2009 Bulldog Bash) welcomes back Centreville, Flint Hill, and James Madison (champion of the 2005 and 2011 Bulldog Bash) along with first-time participants: Fairfax, South County, Marietta (Marietta, OH) and Martinsburg (Martinsburg, WV).

 The three-day tournament will be played on December 27th at Westfield High School in Chantilly, VA. The competition will begin with the first girls’ game at 9 AM on the 27th.The Boys’ championship game will start at 9:15 PM on the 30th

 Admission is $6 per day (good for all games that day). A three-day tournament pass is also available for $15. Free admission will be granted to children under age 6, adults over age 62, participating school administrators, and any travel or house youth basketball players wearing their uniform top and accompanied by a paying adult (SYA players attend free).
