2008 SYA Warriors Lacrosse Season - Winners of 5 NVYLL Championships
The Warriors and Lady Warriors Board congratulate the U-15-B Lady Warriors on their NVYLL Championship!  This is the third season in a row that our U-15 girls have won a Championship.  All six of our playoff eligible Lady Warriors teams qualified for the playoffs.

The Board is also elated to report that our U-15-A, U-15-B-1, U-15-C, and U-13-A Warriors were able to capture FOUR NVYLL Championships!  The U-15-A team upset #1 seed Loudon East, 11-2.  The U-15-B-1 team were victorious in a 5-4 victory over Chantilly.  The U-15-C team, seeded last, won the championship 4-3.  Our U-13-A team was victorious over Great Falls in a 5-4 double over-time game to preserve their undefeated, 13-0 season.  Ten of our eleven eligible boy's teams made the playoffs.

None of this success would have been possible without the support of the entire SYA Warriors & Lady Warriors community.  Your continued support is needed (we always need head and assistant coaches and volunteers) and, of course, always appreciated.

Working Together To Improve Our Fields - Upgrades at ECL

SYA is pleased to announce the upgrades and replacement of the fencing and backstop on Field #6 at Eleanor C. Lawrence Park by the Fairfax County Park Authority.  In our partnership with the county, SYA had encouraged the installation of this higher backstop which will act as a shield to help prevent flyovers from the 90' field to the 60' field.  We are delighted with the County efforts and look forward to the reopening of the diamond within the next two weeks.

PLAYER SAFETY
SYA has become aware of the recent tragic accident that occurred in Winchester VA at a local soccer scrimmage. In response to this event, SYA has requested from our Sports that all goals be checked for their compliance to be secured to the ground correctly. In addition, we have received information from our friends at the Fairfax County Park Authority today, that they are also inspecting all goals located on Park Authority property. We appreciate your concern and want to assure all parents that we are reacting quickly to this unfortunate accident to ensure our fields are safe for our children to play.
Thank You
