It is the responsibility of each coach to determine whether the school gyms have been closed because of inclement weather, etc. and to alert the members of his/her team. This information can be obtained by

• Watching the FCPS Channel 21 on Comcast, Cox, or Verizon
• Calling the FCPS emergency information number at 800 839-FCPS (3277)
• Calling the gym closure hotline at (703) 324-5264
• Visiting the FCPS emergency website at http://www.fcps.edu/news/emerg.htm.

Coaches and parents are encouraged to sign up for the Fairfax County Community Emergency Alert Network (CEAN) service, which broadcasts messages to e-mail accounts, cell phones, pagers, and wireless devices. This public service will alert coaches and parents to school closings due to weather or other emergency situations. In addition, coaches should check their emails on nights prior to game days.
