Brandon Snyder gets the call to the Majors!!!
First baseman and SYA alumus Brandon Snyder will be recalled by the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday, the Baltimore Sun reported.  Snyder, 23, would be making his major league debut after being chosen 13th overall in the 2005 draft.  Congratulations to Brandon, and good luck from SYA!  Read More

President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Visit Popes Head Park!
Soccer fans at Popes Head Park on Sun. June 13 were treated to a big surprise!  President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton came out to our soccer fields!  Some of our SYA players got a chance to say hello to President Clinton and get their pictures taken with him!

Challengers Enjoy Big Night at Cub Run!
Between rainstorms last Friday, the CYA/SYA Challenger baseball game that night turned out to be a great event, and fun for all involved.  The Challenger program, which provides disabled children with an opportunity to play the game of baseball,  squared off against Little Leaguers from the regular SYA baseball program for a special night of shared community, team spirit, and sportsmanship.  The large contingent of fans was able to forget about winning and losing for one great evening with the kids, despite the weather.   To read more about the game, click here.  For more information about the Challenger program...  Read More

SYA Honors 2009 Outstanding Volunteers
On February 20, 2010, the SYA 2009 Volunteer Appreciation Banquet was held at the Fair Oaks Marriott Hotel.  This event honors the outstanding volunteers from each sport for their contributions to SYA.  In addition, the Executive Volunteer of the Year Award winner was announced by Gary Flather, SYA President.  This honor is given to the Most Outstanding Volunteer of the year for their tremendous dedication and long-term service to SYA.  Congratulations to SYA Vice President Peter Cuomo, the 2009 Executive Volunteer of the Year Award winner!   SYA President Gary Flather...

SYA Sports has launched a new fundraiser this season to help our sports programs provide more for your children and to continue our improvements to Fields of Dreams.  SYA is working in conjunction with a fundraising company, called Fund Us Now.  Fund Us Now provides fresh roasted gourmet coffee that you can purchase via a monthly subscription.  Read More
