REGISTRATION OPENS SEPTEMBER 1
General Information:
The SYA youth wrestling program is designed to teach youth (male & female) ages 7 to 14 "folk-style" wrestling. Folk-style wrestling is similar to the type of wrestling in the Olympics and is identical to the style practiced by area high schools. It bears no resemblance to "professional wrestling". Emphasis is placed on fun, safety, physical fitness and the development of proper wrestling techniques. No weight loss is required or encouraged!
Practice takes place at Centreville and Westfield High Schools, weeknights beginning in November. Weekly, weekend tournaments begin in January and goes through to March, with a final end of the season tournament. Wrestlers compete by age, weight and experience with other local youth wrestling clubs.
Registration:
On-line registration opens September 1. Registration fees for the 2009-2010 season will be $130. Don't miss out - registration ends October 31, with a late fee of $20 starting on October 25.
