Christina McDonald and Doug Silver
2011 Softball Volunteers of the Year

Trophy graphicCongratulations to Christina McDonald, our Majors Coordinator, and Doug Silver, our Field Maintenance Director, for being named the 2011 SYA Softball Volunteers of the Year!

Christina took on the additional responsibilities of managing our Junior and Little Junior leagues during the Fall 2011 season, brokered a unique arrangement with the Vienna Girls Softball League to give our Juniors team some competition, and helped create a fall clinic for our Little Juniors. She did this all while managing the Major league in her usual very efficient manner.

Doug puts in countless hours year round, including the off season, and the result is that our softball fields are in the best shape they have ever been. He repairs much equipment himself, and makes sure that every field has supplies for coaches to prepare fields for practices and games. His contacts within Fairfax County have been invaluable when problems arise. Doug also coaches a select level Seniors team.
