Welcome to Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) Football for Tackle and Flag.  Our programs have a tradition of building champions and players of character while having fun!   Tackle Football is considered one of the most demanding and rewarding of all little league sports.  Therefore, it requires a huge commitment to the program.  The success of our program is driven by the level of commitment and support delivered by our coaches, players, parents, volunteers, and community. The Flag portion of SYA Football is a fast pace, fun oriented program that teaches the fundamentals of Football in a atmosphere of learning for both boys and girls.   The Football program is designed to provide fundamental instruction in the game of football, in addition to providing for the physical, mental, and emotional development of each child.  This is accomplished through emphasis on sportsmanship, team play, self-discipline, maximum effort, integrity and maximum participation.   Our Tackle Football program participates in the Fairfax County Youth Football League (FCYFL) along with approximately 20 other individual youth clubs that field teams in the various weight classes from Anklebiter through 155 pounds and approximately 7000 participants.  Our program is open to kids ages from 7 to 16 years old.  Teams are divided up by a combination of age, weight and experience. Our Flag program offered in the Spring season participates with the NFL Flag sponsored program.

Weather Policy

Inclement weather line: 703.324.5264        

1. All SYA Football practice cancellations will be posted by 5pm.  If it is not posted here or a coach or team administrator does not email you, assume practice is on.
2. We will wait until 6:30pm to see if bad weather clears before sending kids home.
3. When in doubt use common sense, lightning and monsoon type rains will usually cancel practice.
4. If lightning occurs after practice starts, leave field immediately, practice is delayed until 30 minutes after last lightning strike or cancellation by the head coach.

Jamboree (scrimmages): April 2 at CVHS - team schedules sent

Picture Day:  April 23 at CVHS - team schedules will be sent

Skill Evaluations 1: Saturday, March 4 from 5-8pm at C5T Elite Sports Training facility located at 

      14434 Albemarle Point Pl SUITE 100, Chantilly, VA 20151

SCHEDULE

     U6 and U8 - all players 5-6pm -arrive 15 minutes early to check in

     U10 and U12  - all players 6-7pm - arrive 15 minutes early for check in

     U15 - all players 7-8pm - arrive 15 minutes early for check in

NO CLEATS - sneakers ONLY, wear gym type clothes (shorts/t-shirts), bring your own water
