The Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) is hiring a full-time Sports Program and Technology Manager whose work will be of varied hours based on activities and program work. This position will report directly to the CEO for SYA as well as working with the SYA staff and Board of Directors. Primary work location will be the SYA Office located in Centreville, VA.
SYA is a large multi-sport nonprofit program with over 9,000 kids in 13 sports. We operate primarily with volunteers. SYA started in 1973 and we also own a Sports Park in Centreville, VA.
Requirement of this position is someone with a Sports Management / Event Coordination type background, with a preferred degree in Sports Management or similar field. Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications as well as other data management applications.
Desired qualifications are to have working knowledge and experience with Information technology Including Information security practices, sports management applications, business office applications as well as data storage practices. The candidate must be able to work independently and is able to take tasks to completion.
The intent of this position is to work with SYA staff on key seasonal efforts in support of our sport program offerings, to ensure the best possible member experience. The position involves hands on management of the day-to-day activities involved in planning and executing our 13 sport programs that run throughout the year. The goals of this position are to increase registrations and the value of the organization to the community through improved technological oversight and member ease of use.
Additionally, this position will be the key point of contact for maximizing, training and making recommendations for best technology solutions for the member experience.
For each season and sport, the candidate will need to communicate with commissioners/board members, make decisions and monitor the progress of the season to keep it on schedule utilizing the technological tools that are available. Important responsibilities for this position will include creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets and milestones for each sport. Once approved, the STM will adhere to deadlines established. Ensure each season runs smoothly through efforts in creating teams, developing schedules for each Sport Commissioner to use.
This position will also have the responsibility to offer effective solutions to issues involving seasonal sport readiness. Serving as a point of contact for commissioners/boards and communicating with commissioners or the board to keep the sport aligned with their goals.
